About
Welcome to Tacoomar, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Brooklyn at 227 Prospect Park W. If you’re in search of authentic Mexican flavors crafted with passion and precision, you’ve struck gold. Known for their fresh, made-to-order dishes, Tacoomar stands out in a city overflowing with dining options.
From the moment you step inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere promises a delightful experience. The owner, often found behind the counter, brings a unique blend of friendliness and culinary expertise that captivates guests. His approach to food is not just about cooking; it’s about creating a community around exceptional dining, as highlighted by Ryan W’s testimonial. This is a place where every taco tells a story of quality and care.
What truly sets Tacoomar apart? The commitment to freshness. Diners have raved about the jumbo shrimp tacos, where each taco bursts with flavor thanks to generously sized shrimp, grilled tortillas that balance warmth with a perfectly crispy texture, and an array of vibrant fillings. As Wien Loo points out, the focus on quality over convenience shows that Tacoomar is not just another eatery—it's a culinary destination. This is evident in their shrimp burrito, which Sylvia Rupani-Smith perfectly describes as a giant roll of deliciousness that challenges the need for sauce, thanks to its inherent freshness.
Every bite delivers satisfaction, whether you indulge in their birria tacos, which Onur Kurt describes as exemplary, or savor the unique use of white rice, which Randall Cook notes complements the tacos beautifully without overshadowing them. This thoughtful attention to flavor and texture ensures that your dining experience is nothing short of remarkable.
Moreover, Tacoomar's flexible approach to dining allows you to pair your meal with beer from the local deli. A small gesture that adds a layer of enjoyment to the experience, showcasing their intention to make dining both casual and delightful.
In a world where small businesses often struggle, Tacoomar represents the heart and soul of local entrepreneurship. With every fresh taco and approachable smile, they remind us of the vibrant culinary culture that thrives on the streets of New York. So, the next time you find yourself in Park Slope, don’t miss out on trying the delicious offerings of Tacoomar—you might just discover your new favorite spot!
“ The food here is delicious. The owner is incredibly friendly, makes everything fresh to order, and accommodates without issues. He has good suggestions and you can tell that he has a passion for the business. It's important that we support this place in my opinion, it's a dying breed to have such a good small business in the neighborhood and even the city. I live down the block and order this more than I should, but the food is delicious. If I had my way, chipotle would leave and Taco Omar would expand and expand. I have not been asked to write this and I am not paid. Genuinely want to share how much I like this place and appreciate the care that goes into running a top notch business. ”
“ Fresh ingredients, 2 jumbo shrimps per taco, I rather this then those tiny frozen shrimps with no texture. Burris did not come with a dipping sauce, but they were juicy enough. I like how they grilled the tortillas as well so they are hot and a bit crispy at the same time. Wish they would have fish tacos too. Also they let you bring beer from the deli store to pair with tacos, that’s a big plus for me too. ”
“ Very delicious Mexican spot in Park Slope ! I had the best shrimp and birria tacos. I and my wife shared the homemade guacamole which was very fresh and tasty . Portions were very big and tacos were definitely amazing . The owner was very friendly and helped us with our orders ! I will definitely come back !! ”
“ there is just something so fresh about the food here. literally no sauce is needed- the rice, the shrimp, even the taco shell is incredibly tasty. rice is soft but not overcooked- the shrimp is perfectly cooked, large and dare I say, fresh, again, but it’s true. If you order the shrimp burrito, eat one half without the sauce and then finish the other half with their green sauce which is spicy and garlicky (not crazy hot - but crazy addictive!) underrated spot, that I am grateful for. the burrito should be eaten indoors with the curtains drawn so you can truly relish this gigantic roll of deliciousness, alone, with a fork to pick up what falls on the plate. yum. ”
“ Delicious Mexican food, especially the tacos. I went there for lunch, and was overwhelmed with how good the tacos were. I got chicken, shrimp, and veggie. Such satisfying flavor! Unusually for a Mexican restaurant, they use white rice, which they explained was to not complete with the other ingredients. Well, it works! It's brightly and warmly lit inside, and feels very clean. There's a little counter for eating on premises, but like most restaurants in New York these days, it seems focused on take out. No customer bathroom, which is too bad. ”
“ Huge portion, perfectly seasoned and well priced. Even my 5 and 2 yr old boys love the carne bowl. Fast delivery and lovely interior (super clean). ”
“ Stopped by this place on a whim and thoroughly enjoyed it. The establishment is small but efficient. Even though I stopped by a couple of hours before closing time, the whole restaurant was spotless. I ordered a shrimp burrito which was prepared fresh while I waited. The food was tasty and very filling. The prices are very average for the area, and totally worth it for the amount of food being served and taste. I will definitely be visiting TacoOmar again in the future. ”
“ Looking for lunch or something quick to munch on before heading back to work? These tacos are . Quick service but better food. The shrimp and birria tacos are delicious. The birria taco melts in your mouth. The combination of the pico de gallo, spicy green sauce and the acidity from the tangy green lime is like an orgasm in your mouth. The shrimp tacos comes with 2 jumbo shrimps packed with pico and crema. It was excellent. I do wish to see a fish taco option on the menu. Why are you still reading? Go order! Don’t forget to grab yourself a jarrito soda! ”
